Pizza! Pizza!

I've decided it's about time to stop slacking and start writing every day again. And there's no better way to do it than to start listing off my favorite things about the new house. So, without further ado, here's the first thing on my list.

My double oven.

I grew up in an old house with a very standard kitchen and stove (gas, at least), so the idea of a double oven never occurred to me. Even as I started to plan the new house I didn't think about it because I thought they were just with people with huge families or someone far more ambitious than me who bakes their own bread with every meal. But then the option came up and I said "Wait a minute, that means I could make two pizzas at one time. Sign me up."

I started making pizza when we first moved here over five years ago and was more than just a little underwhelmed but the local offerings. Now I make it once a week, and always make two so there's lots of leftovers. I used to make one and then another (because I tried to make two at the same time once and it wasn't pretty) so the first one was cold by the time the second came out. But now, ta-da:

I'm really not a fan of excess, but honestly, sometimes bigger actually is better.

I have double ovens too, and I should make pizza each week so I use them more often! I think the only time I used them was when we made Christmas cookies this past year.

Are you willing to share your pizza dough recipe?? I've tried probably a dozen recipes, but they never seem just right, and I need something that is tried and tested! In fact, my dear husband Adam saw this post and said, "Ask Laura for her pizza dough recipe!" So here I am, asking for it. :) You could email it to me if that's easiest... babydollkate22(at)hotmail.com

By the way, the transition to one nap with Hannah is going pretty good! She's in bed at like 5pm each night because she can't quite make it later yet, but we're moving her morning nap 15 minutes later each week... right now we're at 10:30, and eventually we'll get her bedtime back to about 6:30 or so if possible. Luckily she's still sleeping until 6 or 6:30 even with her abnormally early bedtime! :) But unfortunately, even when her morning nap is a lame 30 minutes and she won't fall back asleep, she still refuses an afternoon nap! I don't think I could pay her to take one these days. Anyway, thanks for giving me the courage to give it a try! Hope you guys are loving your new house!

(wow, that was long. sorry!)
