In Monmartre

I've been waiting and waiting for just the right day to take the boys to Monmarte. I guess my hesitation is due to the fact that I think Monmarte is my absolutely favorite part of Paris.

And I wanted the boys to love it too.

One of the first times we were in Paris we went to an exhibit of Brassaï, and I fell in love with the steps after seeing his famous photo. Forget the Eiffel Tower and The Seine, the place that most says Paris to me is the steps in Monmartre. I guess it has something to do with the view, and the lamp posts, and the trees and Sacre Coeur in the background.

Since we had day after day of sunshine last week, we finally took them. And it was just what I wanted it to be. There were lots of people out, break dancers performing, a service going on in Sacre Coeur, and a great carousel they could ride. Who could ask for anything more from an afternoon in Monmartre?

Jack's eyes and the blue skies.

Hanging out on the steps of Sacre Coeur.

Break dancers. Sweet.

Waiting for the Funicular, and enjoying the ride.

I love these crazy, technicolor carousels all over Paris.

And the famous I Love You Wall that says the phrase in 300 different languages.

Monmartre, J'taime.

I want to be in your 'home school!'
Geography, history, art, language, culture, architecture et al all rolled into one. Nice curriculum dear!
