"I've Got My Happy Face On"

One of my favorite movies is the Australian film Strictly Ballroom that came out in 1992. I know a great film when I still use the lines from it almost 20 years later, and this is certainly true of this one. My favorite line in the film is when Shirley Hastings, the high-strung, controlling mother of the protagonist Scott Hastings, is freaking out, and then stops, puts on a fake smile, and announces "I've got my happy face on." Trust me, I searched You Tube thoroughly and couldn't find a clip, but the scene is hilarious.

I've been putting my happy face on a lot lately during major freak outs about the house. I don't know if I'm cut out for this house building thing, but too late, I'm doing it. The latest freak out was over our house color. It was the color we chose, I shouldn't be freaking out, but a color looks so different when you see it in a little 3-D mock up by your architect and on an entire house. I couldn't bear to take pictures yet because I need a little distance. Soon.

I'm not saying I hate it, but I'm not saying I love it. All I can say for sure is "I've got my happy face on."

All I can say is "A life lived in fear is a life half lived"

Oh, and "Show us your pago pago, Mr Fife."

Keep smiling girl. This may not help, but you are not alone. Every professional designer and architect has had the same experience- "hmmmm that's not really what I thought that color was going to look like".

Bogo Pogo please! OMG Laura-are you kidding me?!?
This is one of my all time favorite movies. I own it and watch it anytime I feel sad or lonely or just want to smile a lot.
Tina Sparkles has nothin' on you!
